Welcome to Hadleigh Traditional Karate Club Homepage
Hadleigh Traditional Karate Club train on Monday nights at Chamberlin Hall Bildeston (Near Hadleigh) Suffolk (See Map).Our style is based on WADO RYU,but we do incorporate other styles.Our association is the WKU (Western Karate Union) which is a member of the Karate England and follows its rules.Additionally we have links locally with clubs in Colchester,Brightlingsea,Great Tey and Sudbury and further away in Bristol. Belt gradings are run throughout the year in Colchester with Les Birkin 7th Dan.
Classes
- Mixed Class (Karate)- 6pm to 7pm :open to all levels and ages from 5 upwards.
- Adult Class (Karate + Kick Pads) - 7pm to 8 pm: open to people 16+ at all levels -Beginners to Black Belts.
This class will have something for everyone from
- Increasing flexability,
- Increasing general fitness,
- Punching/kicking drills
- to karate Form(Katas)
The club is aimed at all ages from Juniors around 7 years of age upwards.We encourage family participation as its so nice to see Mums and Dads training alonside their children.I have set up the club with the help of my children ;Kristie 16 years (2nd Dan Black belt) and Adam 11years (who is a 1st Dan Black belt).We love our sport and hope others can gain from our experience in an enjoyable pastime.Karate helps improve Self Discipline,co-ordination,flexibility,balance and can increase general fitness.Our aim is to offer Karate Instruction in a supportive and respectful learning environment.
We welcome all levels of students.
Karate is made up of a few key areas:
- Basics (Punches,Kicks,blocks and sweeps)
- Kata (preset moves made up of basics)
- Kumite ( fighting or sparring)
How do i start and what costs are involved?
Turn up on a Monday night to either watch or take part,lessons cost £3 for under 16 years and £3.50 for over.If you decide to continue then a WKU licence needs to be applied for (£20 Juniors and £25 for seniors).Eventually after about 2 months you will need a karate suit (prices vary due to quality but a suitable (white) suit is approx- £15.00 available through the club.)
