Lesson Reminders-Front Kick

  • The knee should be raised and pointing towards your target or opponent.
  • The leg is pushed out into target.
  • Toes should be bent back to avoid injury
  • Hips should be pushed forward to drive kick in.
  • Leg is pulled back either into stance or to deliver another kick.
  • If kicking off back leg from a stance the hand guard is always changed to lead the kicking leg and maintain distance from opponent.
  • The kick shown here is to Chudan (middle of body)
front kick from raised knee position

Actvity:Stand with one knee raised to practice balance then kick out with toes bent back,try it slowly and fast on both legs.Then try it from a fighting stance on either front or back foot.
